How to Transcribe Microsoft Teams Meetings (No Teams Premium)

Transcribe Microsoft Teams meetings for free without a Teams Premium licence — on-device, private, and exportable to Markdown.

Teams' built-in transcription is gated behind licensing and stores everything in Microsoft 365. If you want a free, private transcript — or your IT policy forbids external notetaker clouds — here's a clean way to do it.

Use the Teams web app

Join the meeting at teams.microsoft.com so it runs in a shareable browser tab.

Capture and transcribe

  • Open Ledgeur and click Record
  • Share the Teams tab and enable 'Share tab audio'
  • Add your microphone so both sides are transcribed
  • Everything is processed on your device — ideal for regulated industries

Why this works for compliance

Because the audio never leaves the browser, there's no data-processing agreement to negotiate and no external vendor touching meeting content. That's often the difference between a tool getting approved and getting blocked.

Try it on a meeting you have already recorded.

Drag a recording into Ledgeur and get a transcript with the speakers separated — in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Free, permanently, and no account needed.
